Keel is developing therapies that will treat the causes of autoimmune diseases.  Keel scientists have demonstrated that autoreactive lymphocytes are defective in certain protein processing and signaling steps in cell death pathways.  These defects are specific to autoreactive lymphocytes and put them in a state of heightened sensitivity to apoptosis.  Keel believes it will be able to develop compounds that target the defects in autoreactive lymphocytes and selectively destroy them.  Keel is pursuing multiple candidate compounds to target these pathway defects.
